A Unique Holiday: The Monaco Historic Grand Prix April 2021

The biennial Monaco Historic Grand Prix which was cancelled this year because of the Coronavirus pandemic is to be run in 2021 – a year earlier that originally thought.

Following numerous requests from competitors, partners and spectators, the Organizing Committee at Automobile Club de Monaco has announced that the 12th edition of Grand Prix de Monaco Historique, initially planned for May 8-10, 2020, will be organized from April 23 to 25, 2021. The event for historic racing cars from the 1930s to the 1980s is normally run every two years but the Automobile Club de Monaco has added April  2021, three weeks before the Formula One Grand Prix.

For those who do not know about this event, it’s a great opportunity to see historic racing cars in action on the Monaco street circuit – the same circuit used for the F1 Grand Prix. Finals Sunday comprises several short races with cars from each era providing an ever changing spectacle throughout the day. Visitors can get great views of the action from trackside grandstands and it’s also possible to see the cars in the paddock and meet and chat to the drivers. Getting close to the cars and drivers would be impossible at the F1 race except for race teams and officials and guests who pay a small fortune for privileged access.

The Monaco Historic Grand Prix provides the basis for a unique holiday combining this super event with the attractions of Monaco and the French and Italian Rivieras, so you don’t need to be a ‘petrolhead’ to enjoy it. Visitors get to experience the special atmosphere of Monaco with its plush hotels and restaurants, designer shops and casino as well as one of the best motor-racing programmes in the world. It’s a great value-for-money event to enjoy because the Historic Grand Prix is held in advance of the F1 event when prices tend to skyrocket.

GN Holidays & Voyages had created a series of packages for this year’s cancelled event and is now able to recreate them for the 2021 Historic Grand Prix. The options include packages of five to eight days with travel by rail or air, and hotels in Italy, France and Monaco itself. All the breaks include grandstand seats for race day and excursion opportunities taking in the best of the region.

Hotel choices include the Hotel Capitole – a family-owned property located in Beausoleil, just a short walk from the famous Monte Carlo Casino – a superb base for the Historic Grand Prix. Hotels in Italy are located in resorts such as Bordighera and Diano Marina with the opportunity to visit Mediterranean gems such as Portofino.

All packages are escorted by a Tour Manager whose local knowledge is indispensable.

Full day details of our 2021 Monaco Historic Grand Prix packages will be available soon.

“The hotel was beautiful, the Grand Prix experience absolutely unbelievable. Would come to Monaco time and time again and relive it all.”
