Tower Bridge, a must-see London icon, invites you to step inside and enjoy an exhibition about the bridge and Victorian London, stroll across the walkway 42 metres above the Thames with spectacular views either side (and below through the glass floor – if you dare) and enjoy a visit to the engine room.
Day 4: Buckingham Palace and Princess Diana Statue
After breakfast we join our coach and travel to Buckingham Palace where we have entry to the State rooms and the Jubilee exhibition. Early afternoon we return to the hotel via Kensington Palace where we visit the Sunken Garden to see the new statue of Princess Diana.
Buckingham Palace, home of The Queen, opens its doors to visitors for a limited time each summer. Your ticket includes entry to the magnificent State Rooms, the setting for official ceremonial occasions, furnished with some of the greatest treasures from the Royal Collection.
In celebration of The Queen’s historic Platinum Jubilee in 2022, The State Rooms will feature a display looking at The Queen’s Accession to the throne in February 1952. On display will be examples from the remarkable series of portraits taken by Dorothy Wilding, that formed the basis of The Queen’s image on stamps and in British embassies across the world until 1971. Also featured will be The Girls of Great Britain and Ireland Tiara, which was a wedding gift to Princess Victoria Mary of Teck, later Queen Mary, on the occasion of her marriage to the future King George V in 1893. Queen Mary gave the tiara to her granddaughter, Princess Elizabeth, as a wedding present on the occasion of her marriage to Prince Philip on 20 November 1947.
