Rhine & Moselle River Cruise by Rail or Air
8 days by Rail or Air, 18th July, 2020, from £999 per person
Day 1: UK to Cologne
Depart London St Pancras and Ebbsfleet in the morning on Eurostar to Brussels arriving in just over 2 hours. Continue by coach to Cologne and the MV Prinses Christina, with time to settle in before dinner. Alternatively, travel to and from Cologne by air from regional UK airports – see flight information and options. Overnight in Cologne.
Day 2: Cologne to Andernach
Early morning we begin our cruise to Andernach, a quiet country town with winding streets and historic architecture, far from the madding crowd. Explore on your own or join our optional guided walking tour. Overnight in Andernach.
Day 3: Andernach to Cochem
We depart Andernach before breakfast and cruise towards Koblenz where the Rhine meets the Moselle. Here we head west along the magical Moselle to Cochem, arriving early afternoon. Known as the ‘Pearl of the Moselle’, its lovingly restored half-timbered houses, historic market place and magnificent Reichsburg castle must be seen. Explore on your own or join our optional excursion to Reichsburg Castle followed by a 5 wine tasting. Overnight in Cochem.
Day 4: Cochem to Boppard
Depart Cochem during breakfast and cruise to Boppard. Sit back and enjoy the views as we pass castles, fortresses and riverside town’s. We arrive in Boppard mid-afternoon to take in its lovely, romantic squares and the riverside Rhine Allee, filled with trees and flowers. Explore on your own, take the land train tour or join our optional guided walk. Overnight in Boppard.
Day 5: Boppard to Rüdesheim
This morning we sail through the Rhine Gorge to Rüdesheim, passing the famous Lorelei Rock. We arrive early afternoon with time to take in this gorgeous little town. Our optional tour by land train from the ship takes in the vineyards and the town, including a visit to Seigfried’s Mechanical Music Cabinet and the famous Drosselgasse – a unique cobblestoned lane just 144 metres long, packed with bars, restaurants and live music – where we enjoy a delicious Rüdesheimer Kaffee made with Asbach brandy. Overnight in Rüdesheim.
Day 6: Rüdesheim to Koblenz
This morning we sail to Koblenz where we arrive early afternoon. Explore on your own, take the cable car over the Rhine to the imposing Ehrenbreitstein fortress – surely one of the area’s greatest attractions. or join our optional walking tour of the town. Overnight in Koblenz.
Day 7: Koblenz to Konigswinter & Cologne
During breakfast we cruise to Konigswinter where we have the morning to explore. Situated at the foot of the Drachenfels Mountain, it is set between the Rhine Valley and Siebengebirge – “Seven Hills”. Our optional excursion takes us by land train and Germany’s oldest cog railway to the top of the mountain with spectacular views of the Rhine valley below. During the afternoon we sail to Cologne, arriving mid-afternoon. Free time to explore on your own, the impressive Cathedral is certainly worth a visit. Or, join our optional afternoon guided walk. Farewell dinner on board. Overnight in Cologne.
Day 8: Cologne to UK
After Breakfast we disembark and transfer by coach to Brussels where we take the Eurostar to London St Pancras and Ebbsfleet arriving during the afternoon. Or, transfer to Cologne airport for your flight back to the UK.

MV Prinses Christina
GN Holidays & Voyages is delighted to offer a selection of cruises on-board the popular MV Prinses Christina. This 3-star ship accommodates just 107 guests offering a cosy and intimate experience as you relax while Europe’s most historic and romantic scenery slips quietly by. The ship’s crew are well-known for their friendliness and ability to make guests feel truly at home.

Restaurant – The elegantly furnished restaurant is situated on the Cabin deck. All cruises on board the MV Prinses Christina start the day with a sumptuous buffet breakfast. Guests enjoy three-course lunches and four-course dinners with table service and a choice of menu. On the last night of the cruise guests are invited to a special five-course Captain’s dinner.
Leisure Facilities – The Prinses Christina has an elegant lounge with picture windows offering panoramic views. Morning coffee and afternoon tea are served daily in the lounge. Under the large awning on the Sun Deck there are plenty of chairs and deck chairs for guests’ comfort.
DECKS & CABINS
The cabins on the MV Prinses Christina were renovated at the beginning of 2012. All 54 river-view cabins have air-conditioning, shower and toilet, two single beds and satellite TV. Standard cabins are located on all three decks with deluxe cabins available on the main and promenade decks.
Please note: When docking ships can be moored side by side so views from the cabin may be obscured.
PROMENADE DECK DELUXE PLUS – These are the larger of the cabins on the upper deck which have all the standard facilities and also tea and coffee making facilities in the cabin. Average size of 12 sq metres.
PROMENADE DECK DELUXE – The second largest cabins on the upper deck which come with the same facilities as the deluxe plus and have an average size of 9 sq metres
PROMENADE DECK STANDARD – Situated on the upper deck with all the facilities as listed above. Average size 8sq metres.
MAIN DECK DELUXE PLUS – These are the larger of the cabins on the middle deck which have all facilities as per the promenade deck deluxe and an average size of 12 sq metres.
MAIN DECK DELUXE – The second largest cabins on the middle deck which come with the same facilities as the deluxe plus and have an average size of 9 sq metres
MAIN DECK STANDARD – Situated on the middle deck with all the facilities as listed above. Average size 8sq metres.
CABIN DECK STANDARD – Smallest of the cabins on the bottom deck come with all the standard facilities and have a small window which does not open. Average size 7sq metres.
