Rhine Wine Festival, Lightning Night & Moselle River Cruise

Day 1: London to Cologne
Depart London St Pancras and Ebbsfleet in the morning on the Eurostar to Brussels, arriving in just over 2 hours. Continue by coach to Cologne and the MS Carmen. Alternatively travel to and from Cologne by air from regional UK airports – see flight information and options. Time to settle into your cabin or explore Cologne before dinner. Overnight in Cologne. Entertainment and free drinks in the lounge.
Day 2 : Cologne to Andernach
Early morning we begin our cruise to Andernach, a quiet riverside town with winding streets and historic architecture. Explore on your own or join our optional guided walking tour. Overnight in Andernach. Entertainment and free drinks in the lounge.
Day 3: Boppard
This morning we sail to Boppard, arriving early afternoon. The town’s treasures include romantic squares, small lanes and the Rhine Allee (Riverside Promenade), filled with trees and flowers. You can enjoy one of the highlights of the year in Boppard, the Wine Festival in the market square, with various wine stands for wine-tasting, music and entertainment. Tonight is the highlight of the cruise as we enjoy the Rhine in Flames festival when the night sky erupts into a million stars with a spectacular fireworks display. Overnight in Boppard.Entertainment and free drinks in the lounge.
Day 4: Boppard to Rüdesheim
The spectacle continues this morning as we sail through the Middle Rhine passing countless castles, fortresses and sleepy hamlets in the narrowest and deepest part of the river, marked by the legendary Lorelei Rock. We arrive in Rüdesheim mid-afternoon. Our optional 2 hour guided town walk includes the cable car to the Niederwald Monument. Alternatively, our optional tour by land train takes us from the ship through the vineyards and town to the famous Drosselgasse – a unique cobblestoned lane just 144 metres long, packed with bars, restaurants and live music – to enjoy a delicious Rüdesheimer Kaffee made with Asbach brandy. Overnight in Rüdesheim. Entertainment and free drinks in the lounge.
Day 5: Rüdesheim to Cochem
Early morning we sail back through the middle Rhine to the tranquil Moselle river with rolling vineyards and lush greenery. Arriving in Cochem early to mid-afternoon there is time to explore on your own, or join our optional excursion of a guided town walking tour of the town with a include wine tasting, a chance to try 5 wines of this unique region. Wine tasting only also available. Overnight in Cochem. Entertainment and free drinks in the lounge.
Day 6: Cochem to Koblenz
Early morning we set sail for Koblenz arriving early afternoon. You will be free to explore on your own, we recommend taking the cable car over the Rhine to the imposing Ehrenbreitstein fortress – surely one of the area’s greatest attractions, or join our optional walking tour of the town. Overnight in Koblenz. Entertainment and free drinks in the lounge.
Day 7: Koblenz to Cologne
We sail from Koblenz in the early morning enjoying a relaxing day on board, before arriving in Cologne early afternoon. Time perhaps to visit the magnificent gothic Cathedral before a farewell dinner on board. Overnight in Cologne. Entertainment and free drinks in the lounge.
Day 8: Cologne to UK
After Breakfast we disembark and transfer by coach to Brussels where we take the Eurostar to London St Pancras and Ebbsfleet arriving during the afternoon. Or, transfer to Cologne airport for your flight back to the UK.

GN Holidays & Voyages is exclusively chartering the elegant, four-star MS Carmen in 2019 & 2020. This beautiful ship was fully renovated to a great standard in 2016. The ship accommodates 136 guests in spacious and comfortable cabins, all freshly renovated with double and twin hotel style beds.
The impressive Reception on Upper deck includes a hotel style lift which goes from the upper deck to the lower deck. At the front of the ship you will enjoy the magnificent lounge with bar, spacious dance floor and easy chairs. There is also a Sun deck with sun loungers which partly covered with wind protection so suitable for all weathers.
The restaurant on the Upper Deck features large picture windows. It is light and airy with elegant decor and furnishings engendering a relaxed, informal atmosphere. Diners can enjoy generous buffet breakfasts, plus lunches served at your table and from the buffet depending on the menu of the day. Dinner is a daily highlight with four courses served at your table.
In the centre of the ship there is a stylish library and internet cafe. Under the large awning on the Sun Deck there are plenty of chairs and deck chairs for guests’ comfort.
Decks & Cabins
Cabins all have window, TV, safe, hair dryer, individually, controlled heating and cooling system, shower and WC. They have double/twin hotel style beds, except the singles which have a fixed single bed and sofa. Cabins are situated over three decks with a choice of A-grade French Balcony, B&C grade 1/2 French Balcony, D-grade Fixed window or E-grade singles with small window.
UPPER DECK – The upper deck is split-level with all A-grade *French Balcony cabins situated in the highest part of the ship. The restaurant, at the rear of the ship, is accessed directly from here down 3 small steps. The reception, bar and lounge at the front of the ship are also accessed directly from here down 8 steps or via elevator.
*French Balconies look and act like a regular balcony, with the only exception being that there is a railing placed directly behind the glass, meaning you cannot step out onto a separate space. The glass is almost full cabin width and height with sliding door.
MIDDLE DECK – The middle deck deck is split-level with B&C-grade ** 1/2 French Balcony cabins situated between the restaurant and reception. The restaurant is accessed directly from here up 12 steps, or you can take the elevator from reception and enter via the upper deck. The reception, bar and lounge at the front of the ship are also accessed directly from here up 7 steps or via elevator. D-grade cabins with fixed picture window (does not open) are at the front of the ship below the bar/lounge with access from the reception via 15 steps or elevator.
** 1/2 French Balconies have a cabin width sliding window from waist height up with an external guard rail at chest height.
LOWER DECK – The lower deck has 10 E-grade single cabins (no supplement) situated mid-ships below the reception with access via 15 steps or elevator.
