The BIG 60s & 70s to Soul & Motown Parties at Warner Norton Grange

      4 days, 8th and 15th September 2023, from £399 per person

      Entertainment

Hey, Hey, we’re the Monkees! the 60’s sitcom about a struggling young band, was created by TV producers Bob Rafelson & Bert Schneider, inspired by The Beatles film “A Hard Days Night”. The prefab four, as some critics labelled them, were Micky Dolenz, Mike Nesmith, Peter Tork and Davy Jones. The Monkees became an instant TV and pop charts success… selling 75 Million Albums and every kind of merchandise you can think of.. in just 2 years. While charts hits like “The last Train to Clarkesville” & “I’m a Believer” quickly created huge demand for the boys to perform live concert tours. The problem was, until then The Monkees music had been recorded by session musicians…and the lads only provided the vocals!! Now, the fictional band wanted to become real…and like Pinocchio became a real boy, they cut the strings! This is the story of the Monkees…..with a young band of talented singers who really can play and a hilarious narrator.

Roy G Hemmings is the longest serving former member of legendary group, The Drifters. He has entertained audiences around the world with his easy, relaxed style and fabulous voice in a career that spans four decades. Roy enjoyed major success when he signed a recording deal in the mid-seventies with the J.A.L.N. Band, one of the first bands to storm the British charts with the dance record, ‘Disco Music, I Like It’ co-produced by Pete Waterman. After three well-received albums, the group disbanded and Roy launched his solo career, releasing his first solo album, ‘No Afro, No Sequins, No Flares’ to critical acclaim in 1997. His latest album, ‘Philly vs Motown’ includes songs from his stage show including a fine version of ‘The Drifters’ classic, ‘Like Sister and Brother’. Roy’s Dictionary of Soul® show includes songs by Otis Reading, James Brown, The O-Jays, The Supremes, Temptations, Four Tops and other Soul & Motown greats. The show also features the Soul Divas The Prim-ettes, adding a stunning dimension of smooth harmonies and slick Motown dance routines. Diana Ross and Mary Wilson were in fact founder members of the Prim-ettes before changing their name to The Supremes. The show is full of timeless songs performed with energy and sensitivity, creating emotions with a musical array of all-time greats: Get Ready, Sitting on the Dock of the Bay, Me & Mrs Jones, Under the Boardwalk, Can’t Help Myself, My Girl, Save the Last Dance for Me, and Love Train.

Follow The HOLLIES Story as Allan Clarke and Graham Nash met in a Manchester primary school aged six and went on to become one of Manchester’s biggest bands ever. Discover how two boys from the backstreets of Salford created a band to rival the Beatles, enjoyed dozens of chart hits and were finally inaugurated into the Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame in 2010. This highly entertaining show for all ages is packed with hit after hit, performed by a talented young band.

Aptly named, The Original Jukebox Heroes are a live action, select-a-disc spectacular that will catapult you back to the days of Flares, Glam and Platform boots! The show is packed with an energetic cavalcade of toe-tapping Glam Rock classics and is a spectacular visual delight that leaves the audience screaming for more! Jeff, Sweet’s Singer and bass guitarist for 16 years, is joined on stage by brothers in arms, Phil Hendriks, guitarist from Les McKeown’s Bay city rollers, Pete Phipps, The original, drumming Powerhouse from The Glitter Band, Philip Wright who is a founding member of Paper Lace and plays drums and sings lead vocals and last but by no means least, on keyboards is Dave Major who has played with T-Rex since Mickey Finn re-formed the band as a tribute to Marc Bolan and Syd Twynham and Phil Wilson from Mud II.

The Moondogs are a young, vibrant 3-piece cover band recreating the sights, sounds and raw energy that defined the 50s and 60s. From the fantastic 50s Rock n Roll sounds of Elvis, Buddy Holly, Chuck Berry and Jerry Lee Lewis, to the musical explosion that defined the 60s from bands like The Beatles, The Rolling Stones, The Animals, Johnny Kidd and the Pirates, The Kinks, Spencer Davis Group et al. This trio will transport you back to those exciting times when music shaped a generation.

Jeff Brown is a musician with many years’ experience. He has played alongside a plethora of Rock Icons including Ian Gillan (Deep Purple), Bernie Marsden (Whitesnake) and John Coghlan (Status Quo) to name but a few. Jeff also joined Glam Rock band, Sweet alongside Mick Tucker and Andy Scott as bass player, ultimately stepping into the frontline and taking over lead vocals coupled with playing bass. He was in Sweet for 16 years and helped them to achieve a very successful comeback releasing two studio albums of new material and two greatest hits compilations, re-recorded with Jeff on vocal. He also toured extensively around the world with Sweet, keeping the Glam Rock vibe alive. Jeff has decided it is now time to show the world what he is made of as a solo artist presenting his album of time honored rock with a contemporary edge, it is sure to be a huge hit amongst rock fans of all ages.

Dominic Uppiah started singing at an early age, discovering a love for soulful tunes as a child. He was influenced by legends such as Stevie Wonder and The Temptations to deliver a cool, smooth sound, guaranteed to put a smile on the faces of you and your guests. And it’s not just a soul vibe that dominates Dominic’s repertoire. His full set is definitely a dance floor hit and covers a wide range of genres from classic Soul and Motown, popular R‘n’B and contemporary pop, plus an array of classic love songs for the real romantics. Dominic’s enthusiasm and infectious personality provides a truly brilliant vibe, with live music guaranteed to create a unique, upbeat atmosphere. Dominic certainly provides something for everyone and will assure fun and laughter for all party goers.

Nancy Ann Lee is best known as “Little Miss Sixties” where she has received rave reviews for being one of the liveliest tributes to the 60s divas including Lulu whose songs make a huge contribution to the show. Remember Shout, Relight My Fire, Teardrops, The Man Who Sold the World, To Sir With Love and more.
