The BIG 60s, 70s Somerset Festival at Warner Cricket St Thomas
4 days, 22nd to 25th October 2021, from £399 per person
Showaddywaddy had more UK hits in the 1970s than any other act – including Abba! From their winning appearance on an edition of New Faces, the Britain’s Got Talent of the day, to become runners-up in the series’ All Winners Final, it took just a matter of months until the band released and secured their debut hit, Hey Rock And Roll, which reached No2 in the UK Singles Chart. Now there’s a Greatest Hits vinyl LP collection, features 16 of the band’s best-known singles, including nine Top Ten hits and the Million-Selling No1 single, Under The Moon Of Love. Showaddywaddy are recognised as one of the hardest working touring bands in the UK.
New Amen Corner have emerged in the last couple of years as arguably the hottest band on the 60s circuit with an unrivalled ability to perfectly recreate the sound and atmosphere of that momentous period 50 years ago when music sent good vibrations across the world. The original Amen Corner was a big influence on the 60s pop scene, creating their own unique brand of music, a mixture of mod, psychedelic power pop, heavy horns, swirling Hammond organ and distinctive voice of Andy Fairweather-Low. Their power house live show made them one of the most exciting bands around. With million seller hits like Gin House, Bend Me Shape Me, If Paradise was half as Nice, High in the Sky, & Hello Suzie they became a household name in the late 60s. The New Amen Corner has a musical pedigree second to none with band members who have played with the likes of Screaming Lord Sutch, The Symbols, Jeff Beck, Alexis Korner, Roy Wood, Robert Plant, Alvin Stardust, Ruby Turner, Mike Oldfield and Jaki Graham to name but a few. Their Bringing on Back the 60s show is a veritable discography of the era.
Mud II features ex-members of Les Gray’s Mud, keeping alive legendary hits like Tiger Feet, Dynamite, Cat Crept In, Oh Boy, Rocket, Lonely This Christmas and more. Still wearing the original drape coats, drainpipes and brothel creepers, the band perfectly evokes the late 60s and early 70s and the music is sharper than ever.
The Lollypops & Moptops Show is a brand new 2-hour production for 2019 featuring The Dreamers, 2017 National Tribute Music Award Winners The Temple Brothers with their Everly Brothers Tribute Act, Buddy Walker with his fabulous recreation of Buddy Holly and all hosted and compered by Alan Mosca. Carrying on the tradition of Freddie Garrity, The Dreamers remain one of the best-known named bands on the 60s music circuit. Changes to personnel over the past 50 years were of course inevitable but one member – Alan Mosca – remains in the band today.
Tameka Jackson’s Queen of Soul show will truly take any audience back in time as they soak in the classic Soul hits. From the Supremes classics, to Diana’s solo ventures, Tameka covers a wide range of material flawlessly. Tameka’s show leaves audiences cheering, dancing, and wanting more.
Soul sensation Steve Williamson performs all the great hits from soul and Motown legends such as The Temptations, The Drifters, Otis Reading and Luther Vandross to name but a few. Dance, sing along and enjoy a night of great live music.
Multi-talented multi-instrumentalist Glen Leon has played the guitar from the age of nine with his vocal talents emerging shortly after. He became a professional musician at the age of 16. For the last 15 Years Glen has performed with The Soul Survivors and the 60s band New Amen Corner, who are going from strength to strength appearing at home and abroad in theatres everywhere. Glen can also be seen performing solo in his Tom Jones act where his vocal range truly evokes the Welsh legend.
