Born in Surrey in 1944, Mike D’Abo started musical career while still at Harrow School. He joined chart-topping group Manfred Mann as a replacement for lead singer Paul Jones and his first big hit with the band was ‘Semi-Detached Suburban Mr James’. He composed and produced Chris Farlowe’ s ‘Handbags and Gladrags’, a hit single (which was also notably recorded by Rod Stewart and Stereophonics and subsequently became the theme music to the BBC television show The Office) and ‘The Last Goodbye’. He also wrote two songs recorded by Rod Stewart on Immediate Records: ‘Little Miss Understood’ and ‘So Much to Say (So Little Time)’. In 1968, Mike co-wrote ‘Build Me Up Buttercup’ with Tony Macaulay, which was recorded by The Foundations and sold over four million copies and was a million-seller in the United States. He also wrote ‘Loving Cup’ for The Fortunes and ‘Mary, Wont You Warm My Bed’ for Colin Blunstone and performed the music for the Peter Sellers film, Theres a Girl in My Soup. D’Abo also worked with Mike Smith, the former keyboard player of the Dave Clark Five. In 1976 they released an album on the CBS (UK) label, Smith & D’Abo. He continues singing and touring with other bands, including New Amen Corner.
New Amen Corner have emerged in the last couple of years as arguably the hottest band on the 60s circuit with an unrivalled ability to perfectly recreate the sound and atmosphere of that momentous period 50 years ago when music sent good vibrations across the world. The original Amen Corner was a big influence on the 60s pop scene, creating their own unique brand of music, a mixture of mod, psychedelic power pop, heavy horns, swirling Hammond organ and distinctive voice of Andy Fairweather-Low. Their power house live show made them one of the most exciting bands around. With million seller hits like Gin House, Bend Me Shape Me, If Paradise was half as Nice, High in the Sky, & Hello Suzie they became a household name in the late 60s. The New Amen Corner has a musical pedigree second to none with band members who have played with the likes of Screaming Lord Sutch, The Symbols, Jeff Beck, Alexsis Korner, Roy Wood, Robert Plant, Alvin Stardust, Ruby Turner, Mike Oldfield and Jaki Graham to name but a few. Their Bringing on Back the 60s show is a veritable discography of the era.
Dave Berry is best-remembered for hits such as ‘Memphis, Tennessee‘, ‘The Crying Game and ‘Little Things‘. Together with his backing band The Cruisers they continued recording and touring throughout the 70s and 80s. Known for his expressive voice Dave Berry has remained fresh and dynamic in front of the pulsating back-beat of The Cruisers.
The Beached Boys magically capture the original 60s surfing sound of the Beach Boys and are still probably the only Beach Boys tribute to have Been joined on stage by original members of the Beach Boys. Listen in amazement as they recreate the super summer sounds of the inspirational California originals. Hits like ‘Little Deuce Coup‘, ‘I get Around‘, ‘Surfin Safari‘ and ‘Help Me Rhonda‘ should get you yearning for the sun and surf.
A well established highly professional live four-piece band covering from music from the 60s to the Present Day, Sounds Imperial is always popular with audiences wherever they play with a stage show that lives up to their name.
The Ultimate Everlys are brothers Mick and Terry Page who have been singing and playing together for over 30 years. Their show recreates the spine-tingling harmonies of Phil and Don Everly, probably the greatest harmony duo of all time, and contains all of their greatest hits – Wake Up Little Susie, Cathy’s Clown, All I Have To Do is Dream, and many more. The act looks and sounds authentic in every detail, including replica Everlys’ guitars, the trademark double-gooseneck mike stand and first class backing tracks. As brothers, Mick and Terry come as close as you can get to recreating the unique Everlys’ vocal blend.
Sammy Lomax has performed for audiences all around the world with her sensational vocals and diverse repertoire, including pop, rock, motown, and songs through the decades from 60s to present day, but she is best known for her amazing life-like tribute to 60s soul icon Dusty Springfield. Sammy fully evokes Dustys diva-like appearance and vocal sounds.

"we have just had a great weekend" I must admit I was a little worried about going away in the middle of covid after cancelling all my other holidays this year, but we have just had a great weekend although a little different. The music was great and the staff were brilliant, nothing was too much trouble considering they had a lot more to do i.e.serving at meal times and drinks at the tables. We have been away with you before and will again. Read more “Norton Grange Sept 2020”
