The Monaco Historic Grand Prix & Menton by Rail or Air

8 days, 7th-14th May 2020, from £1399 per person

Itinerary

This motor racing extravaganza, celebrating its 12th edition in 2020, is run on the famous Formula 1 course with rare and famous Grand Prix cars dating from the 1940s to 1980s. In contrast to its modern day counterpart, held two weeks later, the Grand Prix de Monaco Historique is far more relaxed, friendlier and accessible. You can get close to cars and drivers on a stroll through the paddock – definitely off limits at the F1 GP, and you’ll have plenty of elbow room in the grandstand too – we include a seated ticket on final race day. Many of our clients have visited both events, but none were interested in going back to the future – the historique event was their overwhelming favourite.

Day 1: UK to Menton
Depart from your chosen airport, or choose an escorted early morning departure from St Pancras or Ebbsfleet by Eurostar to Lille or Paris, continuing by TGV train – to Nice. On arrival in Nice board our private coach transfer to the hotel in Menton.

Day 2: Menton
Today is free in Menton. You may like to travel the short distance to Monaco by train to watch the afternoon of opening races (this day is free so no tickets are required) alternatively you may like to visit other Côte d‘Azur delights such as Villefranche, Beaulieu or Cap d’Ail, all just a short train ride away.

Day 3 & 4: Monaco Historic GP
Travel the short journey by train to Monaco (ticket will be provided) to enjoy all the action on practice and final days. Return by train this evening.

Day 5: Menton
Today is free to explore on your own or your tour manager will be able to assist with local travel by train to some of the delightful towns along the French and Italian Rivieras.

Day 6: Menton or Optional excursion to San Remo and Dolceacqua with wine tasting
Today is free in Menton or you may like to join the optional excursion to The Mediterranean resort of San Remo, said to be the Monte Carlo of Italy due to its famous casino, and also known as the City of Flowers for its colourful summer blooms. From here we travel to Dolceacqua, a medieval village at the foot of the Rebuffao mountains. Here you can meander through the village streets and climb to the 12th century castle, or cross the single arched bridge with a span of 33 metres to the 15th. A we have a tasting session of local Ligurian snacks with local wine is also included (this optional excursion is £35pp and must be reserved in advance of travel.

Day 7: Menton
Today is free in Menton.
