Villa & Jardins Ephrussi de Rothschild
Exquisitely located on stunning Cap Ferrat, nine beautiful themed gardens dominate the Villa Ephrussi gardens - Japanese, Florentine, Provencal, Spanish, exotic, French, a rose garden and a rock garden. Madam Rothschild commissioned the best landscape artists to design the different areas. The result is a stunning success, with each garden making the most of the natural environment and having its own specific charm.

Monaco‘s Jardin Exotique
Monaco‘s Jardin Exotique

Monaco’s Jardin Exotique
Unique since it opened to the public in 1933, the Jardin Exotique brings together a wide variety of ‘succulents’ in outstanding open-air surroundings. Over a thousand species of cacti and succulents (native to the Southern United States, Central and South America and parts of Africa) are set in a cliffside garden with views of Monaco and the Riviera. The garden is made up of winding paths, bridges, grottos and viewpoints. Colourful and interesting throughout the year.

Giardini Botanici Hanbury
Giardini Botanici Hanbury

Giardini Botanici Hanbury
Overlooking the sea near Menton, the Giardini Botanici Hanbury (La Mortola) remains one of the most famous botanical gardens in the world. Behind these gardens lies the fascinating story of Sir Thomas Hanbury, an English Quaker, philanthropist and great lover of plants who made his fortune as a tea, silk and cloth merchant in China, and renowned for donating his Luytens house and Wisley - the pre-eminent show garden in Britain - to the Royal Horticultural Society.
During a holiday on the French Riviera in 1867 he saw the la Mortola promontory, near Menton. Encouraged by his brother Daniel, a pharmacologist, he purchased the ruined Palazzo Orengo estate at its centre and set about creating one of the Riviera’s greatest landscaped, botanical gardens. The gardens were severely damaged in World War II, when they became a no-man‘s land and in 1960 Lady Hanbury sold them to the State of Italy. Now in the care of the University of Genoa, restoration has been gradually proceeding since 1987.

Fete des Roses et des Plantes
This event is held in the garden of Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild. Visitors will be able to speak to horticulturalists, take part in gardening and flower arranging workshops, watch fashion shows of floral dresses, listen to concert performances, go on guided tours of the Villa’s nine thematic gardens, and take advice from the head gardener. Alongside the rose gardeners and their colourful stands, other professionals will set up their stalls in the French garden, where they will display rare plants, exotic and Mediterranean flowers, and other plants such as irises and citruses.
